Abstract
The East Texas Basin, long regarded as a mature hydrocarbon province, still holds significant untapped potential. Many legacy reservoirs contain forgotten behind-pipe pay and tight formations once considered uneconomic. Renewed interest in these intervals is being driven by two complementary approaches: identifying and completing bypassed pay within existing wellbores, and applying modern horizontal drilling and completion techniques to tighter reservoir targets. By integrating legacy well data with today’s petrophysical, geologic, and production analysis tools, operators can more accurately evaluate these opportunities and design projects that combine proven assets with modern insight. This presentation will examine how revisiting the old and embracing the new can together redefine the future of East Texas exploration and development.
