Our October meeting on the 16th features AAPG President Mike Party. Mike will be giving us an update on Permian Basin activity and discussing AAPG Society issues.
In November, Chris Griffith will present “Stratigraphy of the Upper Cretaceous Austin Chalk Group in South and Central Texas”. Bill Ambrose of the BEG has rescheduled his paper “Depositional History and Stratigraphic Evolution Of The Midway To Carrizo Succession On The Western Margin Of The Houston Embayment, Southeast Texas” for our January meeting. Due to numerous Holiday events in December, we currently do not have a meeting scheduled for December.
Our popular Annual Golf Tournament had the start of some cooler Fall weather, yeah! Thanks to all our participants and sponsors for making this such a great event. Special thanks again to Nick Pollard for organizing this event.
Our Society continues to collaborate on an educational project for the public, in order to increase awareness of geology and our industry. The event will be in the East Texas Oil Museum at Kilgore College and the exhibit is scheduled for 1/4/2020-2/15/2020. Several members have volunteered to assist and/or provide items for the display. If you are interested in participating and have not already signed up, please email me and we will add you to our list of volunteers.
Please consider attending “GeoGULF” Convention in Houston (formerly GCAGS) on Oct 24-25, 2019.
