May 2022 - Ernie LaFlure

ETGS Member,

It was great seeing many of you at our 10th (almost) annual ETGS SKEET SHOOT.  The participation by you and our great sponsors are what make this event a success.  A special shout out of appreciation goes to Rich Adams and Dale Short for once again organizing this great event.  What terrific prizes and fun that were had by all!

For our Wednesday May 18 meeting, we will have Blake Mock with Canamera Coring presenting “Core Acquisition and New Technology”.  Blake will discuss new innovative engineering designs for coring technologies that have resulted in single coring runs of over 300 feet in multiple basins throughout North America.  As always, please register timely, so we can have a good head count for our lunch.  We hope to see you, as this will be our last meeting prior to our summer break.

In July we will be sending out our annual ballot for your ETGS BOD Officers.  I have had the distinct pleasure and honor of being the Society President since the fall of 2018.  Therefore, it is more than past time to pass the baton to new leadership for the Society.  I am very pleased to say that our current Vice President, Hunter Carr, has agreed to take on the role and duties of our next President.  Dr. Julie Bloxson has agreed to be our next Vice President, which I believe will make for a dynamic new leadership team for our Society.  I will continue, along with other past Presidents, to serve on your BOD.  Very special recognition goes to Robert Reese, our ETGS Treasurer of some 13 years.  He has decided to step down after an amazing tenure of excellent service to ETGS.  Please join me in offering Robert our most sincere thank you!  We will be working on his transition over the summer.

Thanks to all of you for your help to ETGS as it continues to prosper.

Have a wonderful summer season!

Ernie LaFlure
